Set Up a Polar Sensory Tray With Me

Looking for an easy winter sensory play idea? Come and set up a polar sensory tray with me using fluffy snow, playful penguins and icy blue noodle waters!

For this polar themed sensory play invitation, I started with a round tray and set up the land by adding a wood slice and stacking blocks for a mountain. I then created a snowy landscape using our Instant Snow. The soft, fluffy texture creates the perfect Arctic environment for little penguin explorers.

Next, I added penguins from our Penguin Tube to bring the scene to life. These adorable Arctic animals encourage imaginative play, storytelling and small world adventures.

To create the icy water, I soaked vermicelli noodles in boiling water with blue food colouring. Once softened and cooled, the noodles transformed into a semi-translucent, squishy, slippery sensory material that perfectly resembled Arctic waters. Banjo loved scooping, squeezing and exploring the unique texture.

This polar sensory tray is a wonderful way to encourage sensory exploration, fine motor skills, imaginative play and conversations about polar animals and their habitats.

What You’ll Need:

  • Instant Snow + water to activate
  • Wild Republic Penguin Tube
  • Vermicelli noodles
  • Blue food colouring
  • Boiling water (adult preparation)
  • A polar themed book to back up the play theme
  • A wood slick and some stacking blocks

Whether you’re creating a winter sensory bin, exploring Arctic/Polar animals or simply looking for a fun sensory play activity, this easy setup provides endless opportunities for hands-on learning and creative play.

Ready to create your own polar sensory adventure? Our Instant Snow and Penguin Tube make it easy to bring the magic of the Arctic into your sensory play.
